Saint-Cloud G3 test for Aqabah

Racenews

Two-year-old colt Aqabah steps back up in class for the G3 Prix Thomas Bryon over seven furlongs at Saint-Cloud, France, on Wednesday, October 4.

The son of Exchange Rate has made two appearances at G2 level, coming home a close fifth in the six-furlong Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot in June and finishing ninth over a furlong further in the G2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket in July.

On his latest outing at Doncaster on September 15, Aqabah kept on to take third in the Listed Flying Scotsman Stakes over seven furlongs on good to soft ground.

His trainer Charlie Appleby said: “I was pleased with Aqabah’s performance in the Flying Scotsman Stakes and he came out of the race in good order.

“He didn’t seem to mind the ground conditions at Doncaster and a repeat of that performance should make him very competitive in France.”

Aqabah is drawn five of the eight runners and James Doyle takes the ride for a second consecutive time.
