Exciting two-year-old colts Herald The Dawn, Ultra and Cymric bid for Group One glory in the mile Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere Sponsored By Al Hazm at Longchamp, France on Sunday, October 4.

Herald The Dawn (Jim Bolger/Kevin Manning) was beaten three lengths when second on yielding ground in the seven-furlong Group One Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes at the Curragh, Ireland on September 13.

The New Approach colt, a full-brother to Dawn Approach, gained a comfortable success over the same course and distance in the Group Two Galileo European Breeders Fund Futurity Stakes on August 23 and also captured a seven-furlong maiden at Naas, Ireland on August 3.

Ultra (Andre Fabre/Mickael Barzalona) is unbeaten in two starts in France, having followed up a debut win in a Clairefontaine newcomers' race over seven furlongs on July 25 with a decent victory in a mile conditions race at Longchamp on September 9.

Cymric (John Gosden/William Buick) readily won a seven-furlong conditions race at Sandown Park, UK, on September 16 and ran well to finish third over the same distance in the Group Three Tattersalls Acomb Stakes at York, UK, on August 19.

Jim Bolger said: "Herald The Dawn has come out of his race at the Curragh in good form and I am very happy with him."

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: "Ultra has won his two starts in good style and has some strong form. He is quite unexposed compared to a few of his rivals but he is a horse with a lot of class and should hopefully acquit himself well."

John Gosden said: "Cymric has been in good form but unfortunately he has been drawn very badly in stall 10, which will compromise his chance."

The Godolphin trio take on eight other juvenile colts including Group Two Vintage Stakes victor Galileo Gold and Leopardstown Group Three winner Johannes Vermeer. Rio De La Plata won the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere for Godolphin in 2007.
