Marquisat & Casapueblo seek G2 Grand Prix de Deauville laurels

Marquisat (pictured) goes for back-to-back Group wins at Deauville in the G2 Grand Prix de Deauville, with Casapueblo also lining up in the extended 12-furlong contest on Saturday, 30 August. 

Beaten a nose in last year’s G2 Grand Prix de Chantilly, the Andre Fabre-trained Marquisat saw his consistency rewarded on his seasonal return earlier this month with a brave victory in the G3 Prix Dubai Racing Club. 

Stablemate Casapueblo makes a first Deauville appearance after staying on to finish a half-length second in the G3 Grand Prix de Vichy in July. 

Vertbois, who is also trained by Andre Fabre, looks to rediscover some strong early-season form in the G3 Prix Quincey on the same card. 

The Night Of Thunder four-year-old beat G1 winners Marhaba Ya Sanafi and Lazzat in the Listed Prix Altipan at Saint-Cloud in March and was runner-up to Tribalist at the same course’s G2 Prix du Muguet in May. 

He hasn’t run to the same level of form in two subsequent G3 appearances at Chantilly, most recently coming home eighth in July’s Prix Messidor.
