G3 second for Erasmo in Prix La Force

Racenews

Erasmo ran a race full of promise on his G3 debut when coming home a clear second in the Prix La Force over nine furlongs at Longchamp, France, on Sunday, 11 April.

The Andre Fabre-trained colt, stepping up in distance after winning the seven-furlong Listed Prix Saraca at Chantilly in October, broke well and soon disputed fourth on the outside of Darkness.

Erasmo stayed on strongly under Mickael Barzalona as the pace quickened in the straight and moved up to second over a furlong from home.

He kept on in the closing stages without troubling Adhamo for the lead, going down by three lengths, with another two lengths back to Darkness in third.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “It was a very satisfactory run from Erasmo and dropping back to a mile might suit him better next time.”
