Cualificar third in G2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano

Cualificar kept on to finish third behind impressive winner Alohi Alii in the G2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano at Deauville, France, on Saturday, 16 August. 

Making his first appearance since finishing second in the G1 Prix du Jockey Club, the Andre Fabre-trained Cualificar soon settled in a clear third of the five runners behind Alohi Alii and Batal Youmzain. 

Cualificar tried to close on the leading duo at the top of the straight and moved up with Rashabar to press Batal Youmzain for second a furlong and a half from home. 

Japanese raider Alohi Alii streaked further clear of his rivals inside the final furlong before being eased close home to cross the line three and a half lengths in front. Rashabar prevailed in a battle for second, finishing a head in front of the Godolphin colt.
