Third for Glorious Journey in Prix de Guiche

Racenews

Glorious Journey looked all over the winner of the nine-furlong G3 Prix de Guiche when hitting the front but was run out of it in the closing stages at Chantilly, France, on Monday, 7 May.

The three-year-old Dubawi colt, trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by William Buick, soon disputed third of the seven runners on the outside before being asked to improve passing the quarter-mile pole.

He ran on to take the lead by the distance but could not hold the late run of the winner Intellogent on the outside and the rallying Patascoy on the inner.

Glorious Journey was beaten a head and a half-length at the line by the victor whose time came to 1m 50.70s on good ground.

Charlie Appleby remarked: “Glorious Journey is progressing with racing.

“He is learning on the job as he gets more experience.

“I would have thought that between a mile and 10 furlongs will turn out to be his trip.”
