Territories Third At Deauville

Territories came home a clear third on his seasonal return in the G3 Prix du Palais-Royal at Deauville, France, on Saturday, June 4.

Territories came home a clear third on his seasonal return in the G3 Prix du Palais-Royal at Deauville, France, on Saturday, June 4.

The Andre Fabre-trained colt, burdened with a G1 penalty following his victory in the Prix Jean Prat last year, raced at the rear of the five runners for Vincent Cheminaud for the majority of the seven-furlong race.

He stayed on to take third entering the final half-furlong but could not challenge Attendu and Esoterique and was beaten by five lengths in total.

Attendu, who was receiving 15lb from Territories, scored in 1m 26.65s on soft ground.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: "Territories needed the run and we were very satisfied with today's performance.

"He had plenty of things to overcome, including his penalty and the soft ground, and should come on a lot both mentally and physically.

"We will see how he comes out of the race but the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot (G1, 1m, June 14) remains a possibility."
