Shadow Of Light bids to join some distinguished company on the G1 Prix Jean Prat roll of honour as he returns to seven furlongs for the Deauville highlight on Sunday, 6 July.

Subsequent Dubai World Cup winners Almutawakel and Thunder Snow won the race at its previous home of Chantilly, while European Champion Two-Year-Olds Too Darn Hot and Pinatubo have both scored in recent years.

Shadow Of Light also ended his juvenile campaign as European Champion after becoming only the second horse in 42 years to win both the G1 Middle Park Stakes and G1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes.

He returns to the distance of his Darley Dewhurst Stakes victory following two appearances at different distances so far this season. After chasing home Ruling Court and Field Of Gold in a strong renewal of the G1 2,000 Guineas, the Lope de Vega colt dropped down to six furlongs for the G1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, in which he finished fifth on good to firm ground.

Trainer Charlie Appleby said: “The drop back in trip and quick ground caught out Shadow Of Light in the Commonwealth Cup, but he came out of the race in great nick.

“Stepping back up to seven furlongs is a positive, and hopefully the ground at Deauville will be a bit more forgiving. We will be on weather watch and a decision will be made on the day after we have had a look at the ground.

“I can’t fault his preparation going into this and feel he is the horse to beat if he can run up to anywhere near the form of his Guineas third.”

Tribalist also switches trip as he tackles six furlongs in the G3 Prix de Ris-Orangis for a second time. The Andre Fabre-trained six-year-old made his only sprinting appearance to date in the race 12 months ago, when he failed to land a blow in ninth.

All but one of Tribalist’s 10 wins have come over a mile, with the exception being a seven-furlong Listed success at three. Highlights for the Farhh entire have included an all-the-way success in last season’s G1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp and an easy victory in the G2 Prix du Muguet in May – his seventh Group-race win.

Honeyflower makes her Listed debut for Henri-Alex Pantall in the Darley Prix Amandine. The homebred daughter of Kingman captured a Lyon Parilly maiden over the same seven-furlong distance in April prior to a length second in a mile conditions race at Longchamp in mid-May.
