Might And Power victory places Anamoe among the greats

Racenews

Superstar colt Anamoe became only the third horse to win six G1 races for Godolphin with a determined display in the Might And Power Stakes, one of four Stakes victories for the royal blue silks at Caulfield on Saturday.

The son of Street Boss continued his perfect season with a third straight top-level success as he courageously beat I’m Thunderstruck and Zaaki, placing him level with Daylami and Fantastic Light at the top of the G1 winners’ list.

Anamoe will get the chance to go for a seventh G1 in the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley on Saturday, 22 October, having been denied by a short-head in Australia’s premier weight-for-age contest last year.

Golden Mile provided his sire Astern with a first G1 winner when capturing the Caulfield Guineas on the same card, a race renowned for its stallion making credentials and won by Anamoe 12 months earlier.

Crack sprinter Paulele got the better of Ingratiating as the duo fought out the finish to the G2 Schillaci Stakes, while Gravina took out the Listed Neds Village on a highly productive day.

Dubai Future Champions Festival at Newmarket also witnessed several impressive performances. Flying Honours advertised his middle-distance potential for next year with victory in the G3 Godolphin Flying Start Zetland Stakes, while the Breeders’ Cup could be on the agenda for Silver Knott following his success in the G3 Emirates Autumn Stakes.

Creative Flair captured the G3 Newmarket Pony Academy Pride Stakes on what could be her final racecourse appearance, with Desert Order, Dream Of Love and Al Nafir also scoring at the meeting.

Champions Day is the headline meeting in Europe this weekend and a strong Godolphin contingent at Ascot on Saturday is set to be headed by Adayar, who will face the unbeaten Baaeed in the Champion Stakes.

Platinum Jubilee Stakes 1-2 Naval Crown and Creative Force will renew their rivalry in the British Champions Sprint, while Modern Games could take in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes before heading out to the Breeders’ Cup. Eternal Pearl and Trawlerman could also be in action on the day where the UK Champion Owner and Champion Jockey titles are decided.

The Everest takes place at Randwick the same day and Godolphin will be represented in the world’s most valuable race on turf by Schillaci Stakes runner-up Ingratiating
