Magny Cours runner-up in G2 Prix Dollar

Racenews

Magny Cours produced a strong late run to take second in the G2 Prix Dollar at Longchamp, France, on Saturday, 2 October.

This season’s G1 Dubai World Cup Sponsored By Emirates Airline third was held up in seventh in a well-bunched field for much of the 10-furlong contest.

He was taken wide along with the majority of the runners in the straight and accelerated well after being asked for his effort by Mickael Barzalona a furlong and a half from home.

The Andre Fabre-trained six-year-old went second in the closing stages but could not go on with Dubai Honour, who quickened best of all to prevail by a length and a half.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “It was another good run from Magny Cours, who always tries his hardest. Mickael found himself travelling a bit too strongly with the slow pace but we are very pleased with the horse. We will see how he comes out of this but he could travel overseas again.”
