Folk Tale takes Railway line

Racenews
Recent Newmarket winner Folk Tale steps up to G2 level for the Railway Stakes over six furlongs at the Curragh, Ireland, on Saturday, July 1.

The Charlie Appleby-trained two-year-old rallied well to score by a neck in novice race over the same trip at the Suffolk course on June 10, having been fourth behind subsequent Chesham Stakes third Masar on his debut in a similar contest over six furlongs at Goodwood on May 25.

Colm O’Donoghue comes in for the ride on the Dubawi colt, who tackles eight rivals including G2 Coventry Stakes third Murillo and impressive maiden winner Verbal Dexterity from stall one.

Charlie Appleby said: “Folk Tale stepped up on his first run at Goodwood when winning at Newmarket, which we were pleased with.

“He came out of Newmarket well and deserves to have a crack at a decent race like this.

“Both his races so far have been on good ground, so softer conditions in Ireland will be something of an unknown.”

Also on Saturday’s card at the Curragh, G2 winner Herald The Dawn (Jim Bolger/Kevin Manning) makes his first appearance for more than a year in the six-furlong Listed Dash Stakes.
