Tryster, following a scintillating seasonal return, makes his G1 debut in the Jebel Hatta Sponsored By Emirates over nine furlongs on turf at Meydan, UAE, on Super Saturday, March 5.

The Charlie Appleby-trained five-year-old stormed to an impressive victory on his return to turf in the 10-furlong G3 Dubai Millennium Stakes Sponsored By Al Tayer Motors at the course on February 18.

His career before that had mainly been on All-Weather surfaces in the UK, and the son of Shamardal has gained six victories on Polytrack and Tapeta, headed by easy wins in the G3 coral.co.uk Winter Derby and the Coral Easter Classic over 10 furlongs at Lingfield Park last year.

Charlie Appleby said: "Tryster has come out of his last run very well and we were all pleased that he showed a high level of form on the turf.

"There wasn't a great deal of strength in depth in the Dubai Millennium Stakes but they went steady and he showed the same fractions in the final two furlongs as he did in the Easter Classic on Polytrack last year. He ran the last quarter mile in an exceptional time on both occasions.

"It was a very pleasing performance and I think that he is going to be very competitive. Dropping back to nine furlongs is not going to be a concern, even if they want to go steady again, because Tryster can show the pace of a sprinter if needs be.

"He is the top-rated horse in the field and we hope that a good run can book his ticket for the Dubai Turf (G1, 9f, turf, March 26) on Dubai World Cup Night."

Tryster, the mount of William Buick for the fifth consecutive time, exits from stall eight and opposes nine including last year's third Johann Strauss, G2 Al Rashidiya runner-up Ertijaal and G2 Al Fahidi Fort second Harry's Son.
