Tribalist third on comeback in G3 Prix Perth

Racenews

Tribalist came home third behind G1 winners Belbek and The Revenant on his first appearance since June in the G3 Prix Perth at Saint-Cloud, France, on Sunday, 22 October.

The Andre Fabre-trained colt raced freely in second early on before settling better for Mickael Barzalona when Foniska strode on into a four-length lead after the first three furlongs.

A difference of opinion saw the field split into three entering the straight, with Tribalist leading a group of five on the inside rail, Foniska and Anthorus running up the centre of the track and the remaining three electing to head to the stands’ side.

Belbek headed Tribalist over a furlong and a half out and went clear on his side to prevail by half a length over The Revenant, who came up the stands’ rail. Tribalist kept on in third, a further two lengths back.
