Tribalist returns in style with G3 Prix Edmond Blanc victory

Racenews

Tribalist recorded a first G3 success on his four-year-old return as he made virtually all to comfortably beat G1 winner The Revenant in the Prix Edmond Blanc at Saint-Cloud, France, on Saturday, 1 April.

Last season’s Poule d'Essai des Poulains third disputed the early running before being sent on into a length advantage by Mickael Barzalona. The Farhh colt continued to travel kindly in front and opened up daylight over his six rivals after kicking for home entering the final quarter-mile.

The Revenant and Facteur Cheval attempted to make late inroads but neither could challenge Andre Fabre’s runner, who was eased close home to prevail by a cosy length and a quarter in the mile contest.

Mickael Barzalona said: “I had a low draw in stall one and saw no point in getting off the rail. Tribalist was in great shape for his comeback. He quickened well and won his race straightforwardly.”
