Tribalist bags more Saint-Cloud success in G3 Prix Edmond Blanc

Racenews

Tribalist added another victory to his excellent Saint-Cloud record as he easily took the G3 Prix Edmond Blanc for a second successive year on Monday, 1 April.

The Farhh entire had already scored five times at the course for Andre Fabre, including comfortably beating recent G1 Dubai Turf winner Facteur Cheval in last season’s G2 Prix du Muguet.

Sent on into an early lead by Mickael Barzalona, Tribalist travelled strongly on the heavy ground and forged further clear of his four rivals over a furlong from home.

Last year’s G1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains winner Marhaba Ya Sanafi tried to close inside the final furlong but could not get near Tribalist, who was pushed out for a three-length success.

Louise Benard of Godolphin said: “Tribalist knows Saint-Cloud by heart and this course is like his garden. The ground was very testing today, but we know he goes on soft. He went to the front as usual and nobody came to bother him, which was perfect.

“It’s quite hard work out there, so we hope that he comes out of the race in good order, and we will see whether he comes back for the Prix du Muguet or heads elsewhere.”
