Syrtis & Line Of Duty up in class and trip at Chantilly

Racenews

Two-year-olds colts Syrtis and Line Of Duty progress to G3 level for the Prix de Conde over nine furlongs at Chantilly, France, on Monday, 1 October.

Syrtis (Andre Fabre/Pierre-Charles Boudot) has his second outing after making all for a game half-length success over subsequent winner Starmaniac in a Longchamp newcomers’ mile race on 2 September.

Line Of Duty (Charlie Appleby/William Buick) also scored by the same margin on his latest outing, running on well to win a mile maiden at Goodwood, UK, on 4 September, following seconds in seven-furlong contests at Haydock Park and Sandown Park in July.

The Godolphin duo face three rivals in the Prix de Conde including Wonderment and Romanciere, both successful on their only starts.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “The form of Syrtis’ debut success has been boosted with the runner-up winning impressively.

“We expect him to improve with each run as he is not the finished article yet and, hopefully, he will show that progression in this race.”

Charlie Appleby reported: “Line Of Duty has progressed with each run and we feel that the step up to nine furlongs should see further improvement.”
