G2 Prix Dollar third for Line Of Duty

Racenews

Line Of Duty kept on in testing conditions to finish third in the G2 Prix Dollar over just shy of 10 furlongs at Longchamp, France, on Saturday, 5 October.

The Charlie Appleby-trained three-year-old, stepping back up in trip following two excellent G1 efforts over a mile, disputed third early on before settling in a clear fourth of the six runners after the first three furlongs.

Line Of Duty was briefly shuffled back to fifth with a furlong and a half to race before staying on under William Buick to go third entering the final half-furlong. The Godolphin colt galloped out well to go down by two lengths in total behind Skalleti, who won in 2m 6.56s on very soft ground.

Charlie Appleby said: “We wanted cut in the ground for Line Of Duty but William Buick came back in and said it was almost heavy.

“He has put up another solid performance and, providing he comes out of this race well, we will look at taking him out to the Breeders’ Cup again for the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1, Santa Anita, Saturday, 2 November).”
