Richmond Avenue gains G2 Black Type in Goldikova Stakes

Racenews

Richmond Avenue produced a strong late run to take third in the G2 Goldikova Stakes over a mile on turf at Santa Anita, USA, on Sunday, 3 November.

Making her Graded debut, the Andre Fabre-trained four-year-old was held up in fifth of the six-strong field by Mickael Barzalona. She still had four rivals in front of her entering the final furlong but stayed on well to snatch third near the line.

Toinette won by two and a quarter lengths in 1m 33.38s on firm ground, with Simply Breathless coming home another length and a quarter ahead of the Godolphin filly.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “It was a good run from Richmond Avenue and we are very pleased to get some Graded-race Black Type with her. She will return to France now and we will discuss any plans with Andre Fabre.”
