Mary Tudor after G3 honours at Naas

Racenews
Promising two-year-old filly Mary Tudor bids for a first G3 success in the CL & MF Weld Park Stakes over seven furlongs at Naas, Ireland, on Sunday, September 24.

The daughter of Dawn Approach ran an excellent race to come home third behind Magical and subsequent G1 winner Happily in the G2 Debutante Stakes over the same distance on soft ground at the Curragh on August 20.

Mary Tudor also finished adrift of Magical on her debut at Cork on August 8, when going down by a head as the duo dominated the finish to a mile maiden.

Her trainer Willie McCreery commented: “Mary Tudor is in great form and I am expecting her to run well.

“The only question mark is the ground as I am not sure how she will cope with really soft conditions, but hopefully there won’t be too much more rain ahead of Sunday.”

Billy Lee takes the ride again on Mary Tudor, who faces eight others including G2 May Hill Stakes fourth Sizzling, Listed winner Ballet Shoes and recent Goodwood scorer Juliet Foxtrot.
