Lido going for a three-timer in Beaugay Stakes

Racenews

Lido is out to make it three successive wins when she moves up in class for the G3 Beaugay Stakes over an extended mile on turf at Belmont Park, USA, on Saturday, 12 May.

The four-year-old Street Cry filly has been successful on both her outings so far in 2018, landing allowance races on fast turf.

She triumphed by a neck at Gulfstream Park over a mile on 23 February and by three quarters of a length over half a furlong further at Keeneland on 13 April.

Luis Saez, who has partnered Lido to her two victories this year, takes the ride again and they are drawn in stall four.

Lido, a course and distance winner in 2017, meets six rivals in the Beaugay Stakes including G3 scorers My Impression and Tricky Escape, plus German Listed winner A Raving Beauty.

Kiaran McLaughlin said: “Lido is doing very well.

“She is taking a step up after winning two conditions races. It looks a good race and it is never easy stepping up in class, but she is in good form and fits in the race well.

“Hopefully, the weather will cooperate as there is chance of some rain.”
