G3 Prix Edmond Blanc second for Graphite

Racenews

Graphite tried to make all in the mile G3 Prix Edmond Blanc at Saint-Cloud, France, on Saturday, 30 March, but was caught close home.

Graphite, trained by Andre Fabre and partnered by Pierre-Charles Boudot, dictated the pace before kicking for home with two furlongs remaining in the six-strong field.

The five-year-old son of Shamardal, twice a G3 winner, was challenged by The Revenant inside the final furlong and headed in the closing stages, going down by head. The winner’s time came to 1m 41.73s on ground described as good.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “Graphite ran really well. He is a solid G3 performer and hopefully he will find another opportunity at this level.”
