G2 third for Star Safari in Princess Of Wales’s Stakes

Racenews

Star Safari continued his excellent 2021 with a battling third in the G2 Princess Of Wales’s Stakes at Newmarket, UK, on Thursday, 8 July.

This year’s G3 Dubai Millennium Stakes victor raced in fourth of the five-strong field for much of the 12-fulong contest behind Sir Ron Priestley, Al Aasy and Highest Ground. Star Safari went third as Highest Ground’s challenge faded entering the final furlong and kept on gamely under James Doyle, going down by two and three-quarter lengths in total behind all-the-way winner Sir Ron Priestley.

His trainer Charlie Appleby said: “Star Safari has put up another solid performance and is entitled to come forward for his first run in a while. We will look at taking him out to Germany for the G1 Grosser Preis von Berlin in a month’s time.”
