Encryption and Trekking on trial for spring features at Caulfield

A couple of Stakes-race excursions at Caulfield on Wednesday for Encryption and Trekking are expected to reveal a lot more about a pair of the Australian stable’s more progressive young horses.

Both are impressive last start winners who have more ambitious targets ahead, and both are in career-best form.

Encryption (Craig Williams) runs in the G3 Blue Sapphire Stakes in which he is opposed by the high-class sprinter Written By.

While recognising the task facing Encryption, trainer James Cummings expects the son of Lonhro and the champion racemare Guelph to perform well.

“This is his trial for the G1 Coolmore Classic so I’m looking for another good effort from him,” Cummings said.

“He was electric in winning the Danehill Stakes last start, showing a great turn of foot, he needs to acquit himself well.”

Trekking (Kerrin McEvoy), who runs in the Listed Village Stakes, is another last start winner on his way to better races, and his trainer is looking forward to testing his most recent form.

“I’m hoping he’s going to keep improving and go to the required level to win with close to topweight,” Cummings said.

“He had good early form then lost his way a bit. But now he’s delivering on the promise he showed.”

It is planned for Trekking to continue his preparation in the MSS Security Sprint at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day.
