Egot finishes with a flourish in G3 Prix du Palais-Royal

Racenews

Egot produced a storming late run as he swooped from last to first in the G3 Prix du Palais-Royal over seven furlongs at Longchamp, France, on Sunday, 29 May.

The Andre Fabre-trained four-year-old, who had previously scored at G3 level in last season’s Prix de Seine-et-Oise, was half a stride slow leaving the stalls and held up at the rear of the six runners by Mickael Barzalona.

Egot still had all of his rivals in front of him after being switched out in the straight but the Invincible Spirit colt showed a sparkling turn of foot approaching the final furlong, quickening past the whole field for a cosy length and a half verdict.

Mickael Barzalona said: “We went a good pace and, when Egot started to come for me, he did it very well. He’s a magnificent horse, who has won over five and a half, six and seven furlongs as well as a mile.”
