Dickinson has another River to cross at Gulfstream Park

Dickinson is out to build on a promising Graded race debut when she returns to Gulfstream Park, USA, on Saturday, February 11, for the G3 Suwannee River Stakes (16.03hrs local time) over nine furlongs on turf.

The Kiaran McLaughlin-trained five-year-old stayed on well to take fourth at the same course in the G3 Marshua’s River Stakes over an extended mile on January 14.

The mare scored on her first two appearances on turf last year, having previously raced on dirt, easily taking allowance optional claimers at Parx in September and at Belmont Park the following month.

Paco Lopez comes in for a first ride on the daughter of Medaglia D’Oro, drawn eight of the 10 runners who include the first two home in the Marshua's River Stakes - Sandiva and Sea Coast.

Kiaran McLaughlin said: “We felt that Dickinson might have run a little better in the Marshua's River Stakes but it was a funny race. Isabella Sings raced off into a five-length lead, which changed the complexion of the race.

“Sandiva is the one to beat again but she is giving Dickinson 4lbs. Paco Lopez has been doing very well at Gulfstream Park and speed seems to be good on the turf course, which is another positive.

“We might be on or near the lead this time and hopefully Dickinson can get a piece of it or even win.”
