Demerara leads Godolphin trio in Takeover

A summer break in Queensland has Demerara in good shape to recapture her best form in Thursday’s Listed Takeover Target Stakes at Gosford.

Demerara is joined in the 1,200m race by stable companions Jorda and Isaurian with each runner possessing a winning chance.

Trainer James Cummings thought enough of the mare to attempt to test her for the recent $1 million Magic Millions Fillies and Mares by running in a Listed race at Doomben on Saturday, 29 December.

Demerara finished second to stablemate Manicure in that race and remained in Queensland to continue her preparation with the team that included Magic Millions 2YO Classic-winning filly Exhilarates.

“I kept her at the Gold Coast after the Doomben run and she worked nicely with our team up there last week,” Cummings said.

Demerara has won six of her 12 starts and has the opportunity to add an all-important Black Type win to her record at Gosford.

Isaurian also has a last-start Queensland placing to his credit while Jorda’s latest effort was a fifth in Demerara’s race at Doomben.
