Beautiful Romance & Promising Run head Newmarket runners

Fillies take centre stage on day two of Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire meeting on Friday, September 23, with Beautiful Romance, Promising Run, Manaboo and Laugh Aloud all lining up for Godolphin in Listed races.

Beautiful Romance (Saeed bin Suroor/William Buick) drops down in class for the 12-runner Princess Royal EBF Nayef Stakes (14.30hrs local time) over a mile and a half, having finished last of five in the G1 Qatar Nassau Stakes over two furlongs shorter at Goodwood on July 30.

The four-year-old daughter of New Approach was also fifth in the 12-furlong G2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot in June and started her season with a impressive victory in the G2 Middleton Stakes over an extended 10 furlongs at York in May.

Saeed bin Suroor commented: "Beautiful Romance looks to have improved since she ran at Goodwood and heads into this race in better form.

"This distance will suit her and she will appreciate any give in the ground."

Three-year-old Promising Run (Saeed bin Suroor/James Doyle), who goes for the 17-runner Muhaarar Rosemary Stakes (13.55hrs local time) over a mile, stayed on well to take the G2 Shadwell Rockfel Stakes at last year’s Cambridgeshire meeting.

The Hard Spun filly ran an excellent race to finish fifth in the mile G1 Coronation Stakes at this year’s Royal Ascot and scored by a half a length on her latest outing in the G3 Istanbul Trophy, also over a mile on turf, at Veliefendi, Turkey, on September 3.

Saeed bin Suroor added: "Promising Run has been doing well and looks better physically compared to earlier in the season.

"She won nicely out in Turkey and has the chance to run another good race."

Promising Run is joined in the Muhaarar Rosemary Stakes by Manaboo (Charlie Appleby/William Buick) and Laugh Aloud (John Gosden/Robert Havlin).
