Speedy juveniles Military Code and Silent Applause provide Godolphin with two leading chances in the Listed Roses Stakes at York, UK, on Saturday, 23 August.

Military Code, who started out with victories at Newmarket and Ascot in the spring, drops down in class after coming home seventh in Goodwood’s G3 Molecomb Stakes at the end of July.

The Wootton Bassett colt failed to land a blow over six furlongs in the G2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot but ran a much better race over the minimum trip when going down by a head in the Listed Dragon Stakes at Sandown Park in early July.

Silent Applause has progressed with each of his four runs and the son of Acclamation seeks a third straight win over five furlongs after taking a Nottingham novice and a Haydock Park nursery.

Charlie Appleby, who trains both horses, said: “Military Code should enjoy being back on a sounder surface here and he will be a big player if he can return to his early season form.

“Silent Applause goes here on the back of two good wins and conditions at York should suit, with quick ground and a level track. "
