Beaugay Stakes third for Lido

Racenews

Lido ran well to finish third in the G3 Beaugay Stakes over an extended mile on turf at Belmont Park, USA, on Saturday, 12 May.

The four-year-old Street Cry filly, successful on both her two previous outings in 2018, was fast away and raced in third initially on the inside, before running fourth and then fifth.

She made some progress under Luis Saez turning in and came through to go third after straightening up.

Lido was momentarily second but just lost out on that position despite keeping on in her first G3 test. She was beaten just over three lengths by the winner A Raving Beauty whose time came to 1m 41.64s on good turf.

Kiaran McLaughlin said: “Lido ran very well.

“We did get some rain, which I hoped would stay away, but she still performed.

“They were good fillies who finished in front of her so I was happy to get some black type today.

“We hope to do so again with Lido in about a month.”
