Ziegfeld takes another step forward with G2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein second

Racenews

New Approach colt Ziegfeld continued his progressive profile with a battling second in the mile G2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein at Longchamp, France, on Saturday, 3 October.

The Andre Fabre-trained three-year-old, making his Group-race debut after scoring in Listed company at La Teste de Buch in September, broke well and soon raced in a clear second behind Ancient Spirit.

Ziegfeld moved up to briefly hit the front approaching the final furlong and stayed on bravely after being headed soon after by The Revenant, coming home a length and a quarter behind the son of Dubawi.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “Ziegfeld is a lovely, honest horse, who has run another fantastic race. He is an improving colt and it is great to see perform so well at this level.”
