Victory again for Morgan Le Faye as she wins her first Group race

Morgan Le Faye produced another stylish performance to retain her unbeaten record this year when scoring easily in the 10-furlong G3 Prix Allez France at Longchamp on Sunday, 28 April.

The five-year-old Shamardal mare, trained by Andre Fabre and partnered by Mickael Barzalona, was similarly impressive in the extended 10-furlong Listed Prix Zarkava at Longchamp on Sunday, 7 April. She raced over much longer distances last year.

Morgan Le Faye was held back and switched behind most of the field to race in seventh of the 10 runners as a good pace was set up front.

She was angled out wide in the straight and came with a good run to challenge the leader with a furlong remaining and soon took the lead.

Michael Barzalona was able to ease her down in the closing stages and Morgan Le Faye beat Tosen Gift by two lengths in 2m 4.43s in on ground described as good to soft. Lisa-Jane Graffard added:

“That was very, very nice – a very smooth performance.

“She is great form and it is good to see Morgan Le Faye adding a G3 victory to her Listed win.

“She is now reaching maturity, has a great turn of foot and there are lots of options for her between 10 and 12 furlong which Andre Fabre will look at.

“The logical next race for Morgan Le Faye is the G2 Prix Corrida (1m 2f 110y) at Saint-Cloud at the end of May.”

Michael Barzalona added: “She enjoyed racing in mid-field and picking up the horses in front of her.

“She really tried hard and she is a quality mare.”
