Vertbois chases G3 breakthrough in Prix Bertrand du Breuil

Vertbois aims to translate a strong piece of G2 form into a first G3 success in the Prix Bertrand du Breuil at Chantilly, France, on Sunday, 15 June. 

The Andre Fabre-trained four-year-old found only last season’s G1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp scorer Tribalist two lengths too strong in the G2 Prix du Muguet at Saint-Cloud at the start of May. 

A dual winner on Chantily’s all-weather course, Vertbois started his season with a swooping victory in Saint-Cloud’s Listed Prix Altipan, when he comfortably beat a field that included G1 winners Marhaba Ya Sanafi and Lazzat. 

Hotheaded looks to build on an impressive debut success when he tackles the G3 Prix du Lys on the same card. The Frankel colt remains over a mile and a half after scoring by four and a half lengths at Saint-Cloud last month.
