Toormore heads Godolphin team at Goodwood on Saturday

Toormore tries for a third course success at Goodwood, UK, on Saturday, August 27 in the G2 Doom Bar Celebration Mile (16.30hrs local time).

The Richard Hannon-trained five-year-old was last seen out over the same course and distance when staying on to be fourth, beaten three and a half lengths, in the G1 Qatar Sussex Stakes on July 27.

He won earlier this year when taking the G2 bet365 Mile at Sandown Park in April and is a dual G2 victor over seven furlongs at Goodwood, having taken the G2 Vintage Stakes in 2013 and the G2 Lennox Stakes in 2015.

William Buick, successful at Sandown Park, takes the ride again on Toormore, who faces four rivals - G1 Queen Anne Stakes third Lightning Spear and G2 winner Arod, plus recent G3 scorers Zonderland and Thikriyaat.

Richard Hannon commented: "The Celebration Mile looks a nice race for Toormore.

"He is in great form and has had a nice break since the Sussex Stakes. The form of that race has obviously turned out really well, with the third Ribchester going on to win the G1 Jacques le Marois at Deauville.

"I think Toormore should have an outstanding chance on Saturday."

Goodwood also plays host on Saturday to the G3 Prestige Stakes (14.45hrs local time), staged over seven furlongs for two-year-old fillies, with Grecian Light representing Godolphin.

The daughter of Shamardal, trained by Charlie Appleby, made a winning debut over seven furlongs at Newmarket on July 15. Her second appearance came over the same course and distance on August 6, when she was the length and a half runner-up to Nations Alexander in the G3 Sweet Solera Stakes.

Charlie Appleby said: "Grecian Light stepped up on her maiden win when she was second in the Sweet Solera Stakes last time out.

"She has done well at home since that run and I am confident she will give a good account of herself at Goodwood."

Grecian Light, partnered for the first time by William Buick, is drawn eight in the nine-strong field which also includes Sweet Solera Stakes third On Her Toes and Kilmah, runner-up in the G3 Princess Margaret Stakes.

The third Godolphin runner at Goodwood on August 27 is Flash Fire (Charlie Appleby/William Buick), who goes for the valuable 20-runner Goodwood Revival Handicap (15.20hrs local time) over seven furlongs.

The four-year-old Shamardal colt, who carries top-weight of 9st 10lb and is drawn 19, landed the Victoria Cup Handicap over seven furlongs at Ascot in May and has run some good races in defeat since then, most notably when fourth under top-weight in the Gigaset International Handicap, also run over seven furlongs at Ascot, on July 23.
