Talismanic up in class at Saint-Cloud

Four-year-old colt Talismanic looks to build on a promising start to 2017 when he moves back up in class for the G3 Prix d’Hedouville (16.20hrs local time) over a mile and a half at Saint-Cloud, France, on Monday, May 8.

The son of Medaglia d’Oro, who is trained by Andre Fabre, made virtually all for a smooth victory in a 12-furlong Listed race at Maisons-Laffitte on April 18, having taken second on his seasonal return in another Listed contest over the same distance at Saint-Cloud on March 28.

He gained a pair of Listed wins over the same course and distance as the Prix d’Hedouville last year and finished fourth in the French Classic, the G1 Prix Du Jockey Club, over an extended mile and a quarter at Chantilly.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “Talismanic is in great form and has come on well since his last run.

“He is progressing with each outing and needed his first two appearances of the year. This is a tougher race but hopefully he can improve again.”

Talismanic, with Mickael Barzalona again in the saddle, tackles six rivals headed by Saint-Cloud G3 winner Moonshiner, German G1 victor Sirius and Tiberian., winner of the Listed Saint-Cloud race on March 28.
