Sublimis second in G2 Grand Prix de Chantilly

Racenews

Consistent five-year-old Sublimis secured a first placing at G2 level when chasing home In Swoop in the Grand Prix de Chantilly over a mile and a half at Chantilly, France, on Sunday, 6 June.

The Andre Fabre-trained son of Shamardal, who had beaten In Swoop in the Listed Prix Lord Seymour at Longchamp in April, was held up in fifth initially before progressing to third after the first three furlongs as Influx set a pedestrian gallop.

Sublimis stayed on well down the inner rail for Mickael Barzalona as the pace quickened a furlong and a half from home, collaring Vaucelles for second in the final strides to finish half a length behind last season’s Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe runner-up.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “Sublimis has run another good race. He is a very consistent horse and I would imagine that Andre Fabre will be looking at all options over 12 furlongs and possibly further for him now.”
