Scottish aims to book his ticket for Australia later this season as he bids for a first G3 success in the Betfred Rose Of Lancaster Stakes over an extended 10 furlongs at Haydock Park, UK, on Saturday, August 6.

The Charlie Appleby-trained four-year-old missed the G3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood last week with a pulled muscle but gained a cosy win in a 10-furlong Listed race at Newbury on July 16.

The son of Teofilo made a promising seasonal return in the G3 BetVictor Brigadier Gerard Stakes, also over a mile and a quarter, at Sandown Park on May 26, when he came home third behind subsequent G2 scorer Time Test and Western Hymn.

Charlie Appleby said: "I am happy with Scottish going into this race.

"The conditions of a mile and a quarter on quick ground will be in his favour and, provided he performs to our expectations, we will look at taking him to Australia after this run."

Scottish, with William Buick in the saddle, lines up against six others including G3 winner Arab Spring and Foundation, who was third in the 2015 G1 Racing Post Trophy.

Godolphin is doubly represented in the 15-runner Listed Betfred TV/EBF Stallions Dick Hern Fillies' Stakes (15.10hrs) on the same card, with three-year-old fillies Manaboo (Charlie Appleby/William Buick) and Laugh Aloud (John Gosden/Robert Havlin) running in the mile contest.
