Sara Street out to blossom in Black-Eyed Susan

Racenews

Progressive three-year-old filly Sara Street goes for a first G2 success in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes over nine furlongs on dirt at Pimlico, USA, on Friday, 18 May.

The daughter of Street Sense, trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, ran an excellent race on her Pattern debut in the G2 Gazelle Stakes over the same distance at Aqueduct on 7 April, when she was headed near the line to go down by half a length to My Miss Lilly.

Sara Street started the year with two appearances at Aqueduct, following up a comfortable maiden success over six and a half furlongs in February with a staying-on second in the mile Busher Stakes the following month.

Dylan Davis has partnered Sara Street on all three of her 2018 starts and keeps the ride on the Godolphin filly, who takes on nine rivals including G2 Gulfstream Park Oaks scorer Coach Rocks and Weber City Miss Stakes winner Goodonehoney.

Kiaran McLaughlin reported: “Sara Street is doing very well. There is some rain forecast – Sara Street has never run on a wet track, but I don’t think that it will hurt our chances.

“She is drawn towards the outside in stall nine, so hopefully we can break well and have a good trip.

“She heads into this race in very good form and I like our chances.”
