Safety Check goes for a third G2 victory at Meydan, UAE, as he makes his seasonal return in the Al Fahidi Fort Sponsored By Meydan Sobha (20.45hrs local time) on Thursday, January 21.

The Charlie Appleby-trained five-year-old recorded a facile four-length success in the seven-furlong turf contest last year and won the Zabeel Mile Sponsored By Al Naboodah Construction Group in good style the following month.

He subsequently made two appearances, both over seven furlongs on turf in Europe last year, headed by a staying-on third, a length behind Toormore, in the G2 Qatar Lennox Stakes at Goodwood in July.

William Buick, who has partnered the son of Dubawi on his four latest starts, takes the ride again.

Charlie Appleby commented: "Safety Check is in great condition and I have been very pleased with his preparation.

"We were delighted with his run in the Lennox Stakes and then the ground and course didn't really suit him in the Park Stakes at Doncaster.

"I think he is better around a turn and he is a typical son of Dubawi, in that he looks to be coming back stronger as a five-year-old.

"I think he is the one they all have to beat."

Safety Check is drawn seven of the nine runners.

Godolphin is set to have at least 12 runners during the third fixture of the 2016 Dubai World Cup Carnival, with Footbridge (Charlie Appleby/William Buick) and Let's Go (Saeed bin Suroor/James Doyle), the joint top-weights, lining up in the principal dirt race, the Meydan Sobha Handicap (20.10hrs), over nine and a half furlongs.

Haafaguinea (Saeed bin Suroor/William Buick), a dual handicap winner at Meydan, features among three Godolphin runners in the 12-furlong Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City - District One Handicap (22.30hrs) on turf, for which Saxo Jack is a reserve.

Three Godolphin contenders are also due to run in the mile District One Mansions Handicap (21.55hrs) on dirt, including American Hope (Saeed bin Suroor/James Doyle), while the Saeed bin Suroor-trained pair of Elhaame (James Doyle) and Tha'ir (William Buick) go in the 10-furlong District One Trophy Handicap (21.20hrs) on turf.

Last year's G3 UAE 2000 Guineas fourth Zephuros (Charlie Appleby/William Buick) lines up in the opening race of the evening, the District One Villas Handicap (19.00hrs) over nine and a half furlongs on dirt.
