Romsdal heads back to Ascot, UK for the Group Three Gigaset Cumberland Lodge Stakes over a mile and a half on Saturday, October 3.

The four-year-old colt, representing John Gosden, ran a superb race over the same course and distance to finish third in the Group One King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored By QIPCO) on July 25.

Romsdal also ran well at Group One level in two British Classics last year, taking second in the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster and coming home third in the Investec Derby at Epsom Downs.

The son of Halling was heavily eased when trailing home last on his latest start in the Group Three Betfred Geoffrey Freer Stakes over an extended 13 furlongs at Newbury on August 15.

John Gosden commented: "Romsdal has run well at Ascot before and this looks a suitable race for him."

Romsdal, ridden by Nicky Mackay for the second time, opposes seven others including Canadian Group One winner Hillstar and Geoffrey Freer Stakes runner-up Windshear.

Wall Street (1996) and Secret Number (2013) have been successful for Godolphin in the Cumberland Lodge Stakes.
