Ragtime unleashed a storming stretch run to gain a first Graded Stakes win in the G3 Dogwood Stakes at Churchill Downs, USA, on Saturday, 20 September.

The Bill Mott-trained three-year-old had made a bright start to her career at Saratoga over the summer, winning twice before a neck second in the G1 Test Stakes, although she made her task difficult here with a slow break from the stalls.

Having recovered to race in sixth of the seven runners after the first two furlongs, Ragtime still had significant ground to make up as Delightful Claire led the seven runners into the home straight.

Junior Alvarado switched Ragtime out a furlong and a half from home and the Union Rags homebred charged home between runners, collaring Delightful Claire approaching the final half-furlong before forging clear to prevail by two and a quarter lengths.
