Immersive back in winner’s circle at Churchill Downs

Champion Two-Year-Old Filly Immersive claimed her first win of 2025 as she gamely saw off Ivory And Ebony in the Seneca Overnight Stakes at Churchill Downs, USA, on Saturday, 20 September.
Runner-up on both her previous appearances this season, three-time G1 winner Immersive broke on terms and won an early battle for the lead with Liam And The Dust to establish a length and a half advantage under Florent Geroux.
Ivory And Ebony joined Liam In The Dust for second after the first quarter-mile and quickened up the inside of Immersive to establish a slender advantage turning in.
Immersive rallied strongly at the top of the straight and made contact with Ivory And Ebony soon after. The duo battled for the lead before Immersive found more inside the final furlong, with the Brad Cox-trained daughter of Nyquist asserting close home for a two-length success.
Brad Cox said: “We’re really proud how Immersive was able to bounce back today. She ran fine in her first two starts off the layoff but today she was able to put it all together. I think it proved she’s ready to go Graded stakes company.”
Florent Geroux added: “Immersive broke well and travelled well into the first turn. Around the far turn she got some pressure, but she never felt like she wanted to stop running. I just let Ivory And Ebony make her move and was patient. My filly dug in and ran hard in the stretch.”
