Nocturnal Fox on top in G2 Prix Hocquart

Racenews

Improving three-year-old Nocturnal Fox continued his upward curve with a game victory in the G2 Prix Hocquart over a mile and a half at Chantilly, France, on Sunday, 17 June.

The Andre Fabre-trained Farhh colt, a maiden winner over an extended 10 furlongs at Maisons-Laffitte on 16 May, broke well and soon settled in fourth of the eight-strong field under Mickael Barzalona.

Nocturnal Fox moved up to hit the front over a furlong from home and stayed on well in the closing stages, seeing off the late challenge of Al Mahouf to prevail by a head in 2m 29.51s on good to soft ground.

Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin said: “Nocturnal Fox is improving all the time and has a great temperament, so we hope that there is more to come from him.

“The G1 Grand Prix de Paris (1m 4f, Longchamp, 14 July) could be an option but we will see how he comes out of the race before making any plans.”
