Move Up bravely takes Cumberland Lodge Stakes

Rapidly improving three-year-old Move Up continued his fine run of form with battling victory in the G3 Gigaset Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot, UK, on Saturday, October 1.

The Saeed bin Suroor-trained son of Dubawi, an easy winner of the G2 International Bosphorus Cup in Turkey on his previous start, tracked Kings Fete in second for most of the 12-furlong contest.

Move Up stayed on well to take the lead with a furlong and a half to race but was joined on his outside by Arab Spring soon afterwards.

The Godolphin colt rallied strongly for William Buick inside the final furlong, finding more near the line to score by a neck in 2m 37.93s on soft ground.

Saeed bin Suroor commented: “Move Up is an improving colt and has proven versatile in terms of ground. He was successful on soft going today and won on a faster surface out in Turkey.

“A mile and a half looks to be the ideal trip for him. There are no plans at the moment but he looks to have a bright future.”

William Buick said: “It was a very good performance from Move Up. He won a G2 in Turkey last time but wouldn’t have encountered horses as strong as today. He loved the ground, was very game and stayed the trip well.

“He is a horse that feels like he will improve with time and there is more to come from him.”
