Marquisat runner-up in G2 Prix du Conseil de Paris

Racenews

Marquisat ran a fine race in defeat as he chased home multiple G1 winner Iresine in the G2 Prix du Conseil de Paris at Longchamp, France, on Sunday, 15 October.

The Andre Fabre-trained three-year-old, who brought an unbeaten record into his first Group-race appearance, raced in last of the nine runners early on before moving up a place after the first-quarter mile.

Pushed along by Michael Barzalona with three furlongs left, Marquisat responded well in the straight and stayed on strongly after being switched out a furlong and a half from home.

Marquisat briefly led entering the final half-furlong but could not repel the late challenge of Iresine, who asserted close home to score by a length.
