Lucullan getting ready for Fair Grounds

One of Godolphin’s rising stars, Lucullan, is being prepared for a trip to New Orleans, where he is to have a crack at the G2 Muniz Memorial Handicap, on the same card as the G2 Louisiana Derby on Saturday, 24 March.

Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin describes the son of Hard Spun as “a very nice horse” and one ready to make his name as a consistent Graded Stakes performer.

Lucullan has won three of his seven starts to date, and he has only once failed to make the frame.

Twice a winner at Belmont Park in New York, his most recent outing resulted in victory in an Allowance Optional Claiming Race on Turf at Gulfstream Park, Florida, on 11 February.

“He won impressively, resuming after a long lay-off,” McLaughlin said.
