Las Flores second for Emboldened

Racenews

Emboldened came from way off the pace to snatch second in the G3 Las Flores Stakes over six furlongs on dirt at Santa Anita Park, USA, on Sunday, 7 April.

The Bob Baffert-trained four-year-old Elusive Quality filly, with Joe Talamo up, broke well enough but soon dropped back to race second last and detached from the main part of the 10-strong field. She started to make some headway on the turn for home, but still had plenty to do on the outside at the top of the straight.

Emboldened ran on strongly and got up to be second by a neck as the winner Danuska’s My Girl triumphed by three and a quarter lengths in 1m 10.23s.

Godolphin USA President Jimmy Bell said: “Emboldened has run well again.

“This was her usual come-from-behind style, but as her good third in the G1 La Brea came over seven furlongs, we are likely to step her back up to that distance.”

Joe Talomo added: “She ran really honestly and good after a good effort in the La Brea, Today it was the same thing, she came flying home.”
