Kate Grimwade to depart Godolphin to return home to England

Godolphin’s Assistant Trainer in Australia Kate Grimwade is set to relocate back to England after a year running the Melbourne stable at Flemington.

Godolphin and Grimwade agreed to part ways on good terms after Grimwade cited family reasons in her decision to return to the UK.

Grimwade has been an integral part of the team in Australia since joining in August 2018 where she has played a significant role in the G1 success of Best Of Days, Alizee, Avilius, Microphone and Hartnell.

“I’ve loved my time in Melbourne looking after a great group of people and horses contributing to a very successful season for the team. I’m passionate about the sport and I look forward to the next part of my career back in the UK,” Grimwade said.

Head trainer in Australia James Cummings said: “Kate has been a valuable member of the team who brought great experience and skill to our team in Melbourne.”

“We wish Kate all the best with her return back to the UK,” Cummings said.

Reg Fleming will be coordinating the horses progress under James Cummings guidance for the start of the Spring Carnival with a long term decision to be made in the coming weeks.
