The superior ability Jorda showed as a two-year-old returned in devastating style at Flemington on Thursday to give her victory in the G3 Kennedy Plate.

The winner of the Listed Gimcrack Stakes, Sydney’s opening two-year-old race of last season, Jorda had shown promise again this time in.

But trainer James Cummings said the filly had taken time to recover from a tough first up assignment against the colts in the G3 San Domenico Stakes at Rosehill in August.

“She really put so much into it to run third in the San Domenico and it probably weighed against her in her next couple of runs,” Cummings said.

“But today she was in perfect order and she ran accordingly.

“Her turn of foot was incredible.”

Jorda broke well from an inside gate and stayed on the far side of the Flemington straight course with the bulk of the field on the grandstand rail.

At the 200m jockey Hugh Bowman gave the filly full rein and she quickly set up a two-length break that set up victory.

A daughter of Exceed And Excel, Jorda is from the Viscount mare Montmelo and is one of three winners from her four foals to race.

Jorda’s win made it a Stakes double for the day the local Godolphin stable following the convincing win Duca Valentinois scoring a in the Listed Ladies Day Cup at Hawkesbury, NSW.
