Hawkbill To Wait For York

Hawkbill is to by-pass Saturday's G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot and be kept in reserve for York's G1 Juddmonte International at the Ebor Meeting next month.

Trainer Charlie Appleby said Hawkbill had come out of his G1 Coral-Eclipse triumph in great form and continued to please at home.

"But after consultation with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and John Ferguson, we have decided he will miss the King George and be saved for races over a mile and a quarter," Appleby said.

"The Juddmonte is the likely next target, " he added.

Hawkbill was impressive in winning the Coral-Eclipse, fighting off the challenge of The Gurkha to win with great authority.
