Dubai Racing Carnival winner Hallasan steps up to G3 level for the Commonwealth Cup Trial at Ascot, UK, on Wednesday, 30 April.

The son of Pinatubo enjoyed a productive winter at Meydan for Charlie Appleby, comfortably beating Al Qudra in the Jumeirah Guineas Trial and finishing second in the Jumeirah Stakes.

During a progressive juvenile campaign, Hallasan readily won a Nottingham maiden in July before edging out subsequent G1 scorer Camille Pissarro in a sales race at Doncaster’s St Leger meeting.

Charlie Appleby said: “Hallasan has proved a consistent horse throughout his career so far and we feel that dropping back to six furlongs is going to suit. He won over a mile in Dubai but it’s an easy mile around Meydan and he shows a lot of natural pace. He’s fit and well from the winter and should be competitive.”
